the Gelders way
We’ll be celebrating our 25th anniversary during 2025. While it’s a milestone we’re extremely proud of, it’s not our whole story. That started way back in 1933 with a single litre of oil. Since then, we’ve grown to become the Gelders of today, specialising in fuels, lubricants and cleaning for all sectors.
That’s what we’re celebrating this year, with past stories, today’s faces, and a look towards the future. We are Gelders!
From GVG Oliehandel to Gelders
After reaching our 25-year milestone, we think it’s high time for a name that suits what we’ve become and what we do now. After all, we’re no longer just supplying oil-based products.
Instead, Gelders is synonymous with smart solutions, technical knowledge and commitment to each and every customer. Our new name reflects both our origins and our confident journey into the future. It is a symbolic gift for ourselves, and for everyone who works with us.

Twenty-five years ago, three brothers established GVG Oliehandel. However, our family business has its roots far further in the past – back in 1933 when Piet van Gelder sold his first litre of oil in Deest.
Stories from then and now
We will be sharing a number of blog posts with great, memorable and surprising stories from the 25-year history of our enterprise. But that’s not all – since innovation is our main motivation, we’ll also be looking towards the future.

We’ve explored the archives and dusted off boxes and boxes full of trade fair materials to create a colourful collection of memories in our gallery!
They range from our very first trade fair attendance in a stand we built ourselves (in other words, a table in a party tent!), to management staff with rather more hair than they have now, and a trendy company video made in 2010. These images tell the story of our origins (and illustrate just how much hasn’t changed at all).
Gelders turns 25
and that’s just the beginning!
While we can proudly reflect on our past, we are also mainly looking ahead, to even better products, better and smarter solutions, and even more rewarding partnerships with our customers, suppliers and colleagues.
